Quick Answer

Zahid Law Associates prepares legal drafts online for clients in Pakistan and overseas - including affidavits, Power of Attorney, Rent Agreements, Sale Deeds, Partnership Deeds, employment contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and family-law drafts such as Nikahnama, Talaqnama and Khula documents. Drafts are prepared by a licensed advocate, delivered as printable PDFs, and can be attested at Notary, Oath Commissioner, MOFA or a Pakistan Embassy as required.

Online legal drafting service Pakistan

Online legal drafting is the process of preparing a legally valid document - a contract, deed, affidavit or petition - through remote consultation and e-mail delivery. Instead of visiting an office to instruct a lawyer, the client answers a structured questionnaire by e-mail or WhatsApp, sends supporting identity documents, and receives a fully drafted document in return. For overseas Pakistanis, this saves the delay and cost of travel while ensuring the document is legally sound under Pakistani law.

Documents we prepare

Our practice covers a wide range of documents that individuals, families and small businesses need on a routine basis:

Affidavits and personal declarations

  • Affidavit of single status for marriage abroad
  • Affidavit of change of name
  • No-objection affidavit for travel of minor children
  • Affidavit of loss of document (CNIC, passport, degree)
  • Affidavit of relationship for succession or immigration

Power of Attorney (General and Special)

  • General Power of Attorney for property management by a relative
  • Special Power of Attorney for a specific act - signing a sale deed, appearing in court, dealing with NADRA or banks
  • Revocation of Power of Attorney

Property and rent documents

  • Sale Agreement and Sale Deed
  • Rent Agreement (residential and commercial)
  • Gift Deed (Hiba)
  • Lease Agreement
  • Partition Deed among co-owners

  • Employment Contract
  • Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
  • Consultancy and service agreements
  • Vendor and supplier agreements
  • Franchise and distribution agreements

Family-law drafts

  • Nikahnama drafting and translation (Urdu / English)
  • Talaqnama and divorce deed
  • Mutual divorce agreement
  • Khula settlement deed
  • Mubaraat (mutual release) deed
  • Child custody agreement between parents
  • Maintenance settlement

Court documents and petitions

  • Plaints, written statements and applications for civil suits

  • Bail applications and criminal petitions
  • Notices of legal action

How the online drafting process works

  1. Initial contact - the client sends a brief note by e-mail or WhatsApp describing what document is required and by when.
  2. Structured questionnaire - the office sends a short questionnaire tailored to the document type, asking for the parties' details, subject-matter and any commercial terms.
  3. Document review - supporting documents such as CNICs, title deeds or previous drafts are reviewed for accuracy.
  4. Draft delivery - a first draft is sent by e-mail as a PDF, along with clear notes on any assumptions.
  5. Client feedback - the client reviews and requests changes; further rounds of edits are included in the fee.
  6. Final version - a signed-ready version is delivered in editable and PDF format.
  7. Attestation guidance - where the document needs Notary, Oath Commissioner, MOFA or Embassy attestation for use overseas, we guide the client through the required chain.

A document prepared online is fully valid provided the signature, witnessing and attestation formalities are complied with in the country where it is signed and used. For example:

  • A Power of Attorney signed by an overseas Pakistani should be attested by the Pakistan Embassy or High Commission, and then by MOFA in Islamabad, before being presented in Pakistan.
  • An affidavit for use inside Pakistan should be sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary Public.
  • A contract may require stamp duty under the Stamp Act, 1899 - the amount depends on the province and the nature of the transaction.

Fees and turnaround

Fees are quoted per document type and confirmed after reviewing the client's specific needs. Standard drafts such as affidavits or Power of Attorney are typically delivered within one to two working days. Contracts requiring several rounds of negotiation take three to five working days. Complex commercial agreements or family settlements are quoted individually.

Confidentiality

All client information is treated as confidential. Drafts, questionnaires and supporting documents are kept in a secure e-mail folder and are not shared without the client's written consent.

Role of Zahid Law Associates

Every draft is prepared and signed off by a licensed advocate of the High Court of Sindh, using the terminology and structure that Pakistani courts and government offices expect. Where the client wishes, we also arrange notarisation and MOFA attestation for use overseas, so that a completed document reaches the client's hand ready for signature.

Stamp duty and attestation across provinces

Stamp duty is a provincial subject in Pakistan under the Stamp Act, 1899 as adopted by each province. Rates and mechanics differ:

  • Sindh uses an e-stamp system with rates published by the Board of Revenue.
  • Punjab operates its own e-stamp platform under the Punjab Stamp Duty Act.
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan use traditional stamp paper with fixed and ad-valorem rates.

We advise on the applicable stamp duty for each document and, in Sindh and Punjab, coordinate the e-stamp purchase so that a signed-ready document is delivered to the client. In addition to stamp duty, some documents require:

  • Notarisation before a Notary Public appointed under the Notaries Ordinance, 1961.
  • Oath Commissioner attestation for affidavits used in court.
  • MOFA and Embassy attestation for documents used across borders.

Sale Deed2 to 3 working days
Partnership Deed2 to 3 working days
Employment Contract2 working days

Revisions, versions and re-use

The engagement price includes two rounds of client-requested revisions on the first draft. Further revisions are quoted separately. Every draft is delivered in editable Microsoft Word format alongside a signed-ready PDF. On request, we retain a template on file so that a similar document can be re-used later at a reduced fee.

Common drafting mistakes we help clients avoid

  • Silent choice-of-law and jurisdiction clauses in cross-border contracts.
  • Rent agreements without proper index of the leased premises and inventory of fixtures.
  • Powers of Attorney that describe the authorised act too broadly or too narrowly.
  • Nikahnama entries that leave stipulations under columns 16 to 18 blank or contradictory.
  • Affidavits that mix personal opinion with facts, weakening evidentiary value.
  • Sale deeds without a proper description of boundaries, sub-plan and mutation history.

Sample drafting engagements

Recent examples of drafting work show the breadth of the practice:

  • A Pakistani expatriate in Dubai needing a Power of Attorney to allow his brother to sell an inherited plot in Karachi - delivered as a bilingual document attested at the UAE Pakistan Consulate and MOFA in Islamabad within a week.
  • A Karachi-based garment exporter needing a Distribution Agreement for a European buyer under English law with a Karachi arbitration seat - negotiated across two rounds and signed within ten days.
  • A widow settling her deceased husband’s estate needing a family settlement deed among six heirs - drafted with schedules of movable and immovable assets and executed alongside the Wirasat mutation.
  • An overseas Pakistani father needing a Nikahnama translation and column-by-column commentary for use in an immigration proceeding - delivered as a certified English translation with the lawyer’s notary attestation.
  • A Karachi tech start-up needing employment contracts, IP assignment and NDAs for a founding team - delivered as a coordinated package including SECP-ready templates.

Templates versus bespoke drafting

Free online templates can look attractive, but they rarely fit the specific facts of a real transaction. A template rent agreement drafted for a residential flat in Punjab is not appropriate for a commercial godown in Sindh; a generic NDA drafted for a US party will not sit well with Pakistani choice-of-law rules; a template Nikahnama loses the stipulations that protect a bride’s rights under columns 16 to 18. Bespoke drafting takes the extra time to reflect the actual commercial and family reality and is worth the marginal additional fee.

Bilingual drafting and translation

Government offices and courts in Pakistan often accept documents in English or Urdu, but NADRA, the Union Council and land-revenue offices prefer or require Urdu. Cross-border documents used in the GCC often need an Arabic translation. Documents used in North America and Europe often need an English translation with certification. We prepare Urdu, English and bilingual drafts as needed, and coordinate certified translations for use overseas.

Retention, storage and future re-use

Every completed draft is retained on file for at least seven years. When the client returns years later needing a similar document - a fresh Power of Attorney after the earlier one lapses, an updated Rent Agreement for a new tenant, a second Distribution Agreement for another region - we can prepare the new document faster and at a reduced fee by adapting the earlier version.

Ordering process at a glance

  1. Send the request by WhatsApp at +92 300 2329223 or e-mail to info@zahidlaw.com describing what you need.
  2. Receive a quotation, timeline and a short questionnaire tailored to the document.
  3. Complete the questionnaire and share supporting documents.
  4. Receive the first draft in editable Word and signed-ready PDF format.
  5. Request up to two rounds of revisions to align the draft with your position.
  6. Receive the final version with instructions for signing, stamping and attestation.

Working alongside other advisors

Many of our drafting clients already have accountants, immigration advisors or specialist counsel abroad. We work alongside these advisors rather than in isolation - a Rent Agreement can be structured to fit an accountant’s cash-flow plan, a Power of Attorney can be sequenced with an immigration filing, and a distribution contract can align with a UAE lawyer’s VAT advice. This coordination is part of the drafting service; the client does not pay extra for it.

Client feedback and iteration

The best drafts emerge from iteration - the first version captures the structure and the substantive law, the second refines the commercial terms in line with client feedback, and the third irons out final language. Two rounds of revision are included in the standard fee, and most drafts settle within these two rounds. Where a document needs more back-and-forth (for instance a heavily negotiated Distribution Agreement), we quote an incremental fee upfront so that the client controls the overall cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, provided the document is signed, witnessed and, where required, attested according to the formalities of the applicable law. Online preparation only refers to how the drafting is done; the enforceability depends on the signing and attestation formalities, which we guide you through.

Do I need to visit Pakistan to sign a Power of Attorney?

No. A Power of Attorney can be signed in front of a Pakistan Embassy or High Commission officer overseas, then attested by MOFA in Islamabad, and used in Pakistan without you travelling. We prepare the document and guide you through the attestation chain.

Standard affidavits and Power of Attorney documents are typically prepared within one to two working days. Contracts and agreements requiring negotiation are prepared within three to five working days. Complex drafts are quoted individually with a delivery timeline.

Do drafts include stamp duty?

Stamp duty is a separate cost payable to the relevant provincial stamp authority. We inform you of the applicable stamp duty for your document and, where the document is executed in Pakistan, can arrange the purchase of the stamp paper or e-stamp.

Can I get the draft in Urdu?

Yes. We prepare drafts in English, Urdu or bilingual format as needed. Nikahnama, Talaqnama and government-purpose affidavits are commonly bilingual so that they are recognised by both the parties and the relevant office.

Do you review drafts prepared by someone else?

Yes. If you already have a draft prepared elsewhere and want a professional review before signing, we offer a review service where we mark up the document, flag legal risks, and suggest revised wording for problematic clauses.
